Exploring a Digital Frontier to reshape the human condition.
While watching Tron: Legacy again, that phrase hit me. Maybe it’s because of lack of sleep, maybe it’s because I’m extremely bored. Either way, as the movie rages on I’m stuck on that phrase. “To reshape the human condition,” what does that mean exactly. For the last 28 years I’ve worked off of the idea that we as humans are essentially a force of good. Consistantly striving to better ourselves and one another. Tonight, in my mind, I explore the possibility that purhaps that’s not the case. The very core of human existance, without the knowledge and intelligence we humans are consumers not producers. Elementary school Biology tells us that.
Following that train of thought purhaps humans are not inherantly good, instead the drive to improve ourselves, everyone and everything around us makes us good. Frankly I’m not sure which I like better. Would I rather it be we are good and the world around us corrupts us into the imperfect beings we are, or that we are bad and our goodness is earned through our human condition.
There it is again, the human condition…. Exploring a Digital Frontier to reshape the human condition…. some how I like the idea of that, infact I fell like we are, each of us perpetually reshaping our own human condition and in that I find hope.
Remember, remember the fifth of November, the gun powder treason and plot. I think of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.
Waking up in the morning to the dark on a regular basis is one of the most depressing things I can think of :-( Where’s the Sun???
And if the British empire and it’s common wealths lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, this was their finest hour!
Verizon has announced that on January 11th, 2011, only a few short days after CES, it will be holding a press conference. They haven’t said what for.
The Wall Street Journal, which has an impeccable track record for exposing Apple’s plans prematurely has bold announced that the press conference on January 11th will be Verizon’s announcement of the iPhone coming to their network. In addition, they have information from a “very reliable source” and “people familiar with the matter” that Steven Jobs himself will be attending the announcement and will be on stage with Verizon Execs.
In addition to this confirmation, Gizmodo, who was involved with the iPhone 4 original leak, typically has a very good relationship with Verizon and has gotten an invitation to every Verizon event for the last 3 years, did not receive an invitation to this one. This above all else, tells my this is a Joint Apple/Verizon press conference.
Everyone in the media expects Verizon to announce the iPhone. Frankly if Verizon DOESN’T announce the iPhone no one will leave the room alive.
We’re going to try and start this again. Maybe this time, my posts will be a bit more frequent.
